Rachael Wilson, mezzo-soprano, studied at the renowned Juilliard School. As a member of the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera (15-19), her roles included Hansel ('Hansel and Gretel'), Dorabella ('Così fan tutte'), Cherubino ('Le nozze di Figaro'), the Gymnast ('Lulu'), Bersi ('Andrea Chénier') and Fatime in Weber's 'Oberon' - a role for which she was honoured with the Bavarian Art Award in 2018. From 19-22 she was a member of the ensemble at the Stuttgart State Opera, where she sang Carmen, Charlotte ('Werther'), Fricka ('Das Rheingold') and the title role in Vivaldi's 'Juditha Triumphans', among others. Her most recent successes include her debuts at the Zurich Opera House as Balkis in Offenbach's 'Barkouf' and Olga in 'Eugene Onegin', at the Glyndebourne Festival as Hermia in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', at the Teatro Real in Madrid as Cherubino and at the Opéra national du Rhin as Kay (Abrahamsen's 'The Snow Queen'). She made her role debut in 2024 as Donna Elvira ('Don Giovanni') at Santa Fe Opera and Malmö Opera, appeared as Lola ('Cavalleria Rusticana') at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and sang Carmen at Theater Basel. On the concert stage, she has performed Messiaen's 'Harawi' at the Ruhrtriennale and the Spoleto Festival, among others. Current projects include her debuts at the Komische Oper Berlin as an alto soloist ('Messiah'), at the Hamburg State Opera as Donna Elvira and at the Musikverein with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Lorenzo Viotti.
