The piano trio "Kaskados" has officially been performing since 1997, although even before that its members - Albina Šikšniūtė (piano), Rusnė Mataitytė (violin), Edmundas Kulikauskas (cello) - were known as soloists and members of chamber ensembles. Gathering into a constantly performing ensemble and summarizing their professional excellence precisely in the dissemination of its repertoire is an important and decisive step for these three performers, bearing in mind that all of them diligently cultivate other types of musical activities as well. These three musics are also connected by the close experience of academic studies. Almost at the same time, all of them studied at the P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the pianist and the violinist - there and in post-graduate studies. So it is no coincidence that time and experience, inner need matured the "Kaskadus" trio - currently one of the most productive chamber ensembles in Lithuania. This trio has had to take part in big Lithuanian festivals more than once: "Gaidas", "St. Kristupas", "Thomas Mann", "Pažaislis". The ensemble successfully toured in Austria, Germany, Russia, Sweden. And in 2002, "Kaskados" became the laureate of the 9th International J. Brahms Chamber Ensemble Competition (Austria, Piortschach) - won the 1st prize. In 2005, they became Golden Disk laureates (Lithuanian Music Union award).Lithuanian listeners follow the rhythm of the "Kaskadu" trio's concert life with interest - especially since the ensemble presents new chamber programs every year. In addition, the members of "Kaskadu" have performed solo parts in L. van Beethoven's Concerto for piano, violin, cello and orchestra in C major, op. 56 and the five-concert cycle "All L. van Beethoven's piano trios". The repertoire of this ensemble includes works of the trio genre from various eras, among which we will find the legacy of romantic music that is being actively nurtured. The ensemble dedicates a significant part of its interpretive energy to the dissemination of contemporary Lithuanian music, adding new opus of these authors every year. Appreciating the professionalism and artistic imagination of the "Kaskadus" performers, the composers have written compositions specifically for this trio (Loreta Narvilaitė, Jurgis Juozapaitis, Vidmantas Bartulis, Algirdas Martinaitis, Osvaldas.Balakauskas, Sadie Harrison), or rewritten previously created opus specifically for the composition of the piano trio (Arvydas Malcys, Feliksas Bajor, Bronius Kutavičius). The piano trio "Kaskadas" is familiar to the listeners, which has been favorably written about in the Lithuanian press and well received by foreign critics. The reviews often note the harmonious and expressive ensemble of these instrumentalists, the convincingly concentrated methods of expression, the precise stylistic orientation, the feeling of the deep and unified sound of the three instruments, all of which is conditioned by the precise and solid technical preparation of these musicians.
