Programme:
Arrangements of works, folk songs, hymns, folk songs and folk music by Nikolaj Konstantin Čiurlionis, Edvard Grieg, Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota, Vitalias Neugasimovs, Kjell Marcussen, Raimundas Martinkėnas and others
The second concert of the Baltic and Nordic Music Festival will excite all those who are interested in musical news. Lithuanian and Norwegian folk songs and psalms will be the main riffs of the programme, while around them will be the songs of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Edvard Grieg, Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota, Vitaliy Neugasimov and others.
Singing, playing the viola and composing his own compositions, Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota is always looking for meaningful contexts of identity. "I work in an international environment - my colleagues and friends come from 20 countries around the world," is how Syrrist-Gelgota, who often appears in musical projects with his wife, cellist Toril Syrrist, describes his environment.
Svviesė Čepliauskaitė, who performs extensively in Lithuania and abroad, not only has a repertoire of beloved Romantic-era literature, but she is also a frequent godmother of new works for piano by Lithuanian composers.
As a laureate of many international competitions and a member of the audience, Italian clarinettist and composer Antonello Timpani pays great attention to contemporary music, and is a tireless promoter of clarinet music among professional and amateur ensembles.
The Baltic and Viking spirit will be conveyed by the musicians living in Lithuania, Italy, and Norway, who will be performing their final touches just a few days prior to the concert.
