The Eye of the Storm explores the universal laws of chaos and order. It is a work by French choreographer Rachid Ouramdane, director of the Chaillot (Chaillot) National Dance Theatre in France, in collaboration with Sheikh Dance Theatre. The choreographer uses the movement of organised and anarchic groups. Ouramdane is inspired by parades, riots, demonstrations and flocks of flying birds. In this way, the stage is filled with ever-changing images of order and chaos. These images, and especially the moments of transition from one state to another, create parallels with the processes of today's societies, resonate in the context of a pandemic world, and the dancers become a metaphor for a chaotic being governed by universal rules. Like a surge of energy, a rotating kaleidoscope, the performance draws the viewer into an almost hypnotic state - as if you were watching the eye of the storm forming out of clouds, thunderstorms, and rain.
The production of the performance is supported by the Embassy of the French Republic of Lithuania, the French Institute in Lithuania, the Lithuanian Council for Culture, and the Municipality of Klaipėda City.
The Lithuanian-French contemporary dance programme "KlaipėDAnse" is implemented by the Sheikh Dance Theatre, the National Dance Centre of Caen in France, the Embassy of France, the French Institute in Lithuania and the Municipality of Klaipėda.
