Prof. Alexander Paley's VMU Academy of Music Piano Class Concert at Organum Hall
Pianist Prof. Alexander Paley has been educating future piano professionals at the Vytautas Magnus University Academy of Music for three years now. Born in Moldova, he studied at the Moscow Conservatoire with Bela Davidovich and Vera Gornostaeva, and in 1988 chose to move to the USA. He has performed extensively in Europe (especially in France) and China with major ensembles. These experiences have shaped the pianist's varied repertoire, performance style and a distinctive school of pianism, which he shares with the students of the VMU Academy of Music. All of them have performed with the VMU Academy of Music Chamber Orchestra and Kaunas Symphony Orchestra.
Prof. Paley's students Elena Šešelgytė, Aušrinė Plonytė, René Marines and Vardan Gyodakyan will perform works by the great Baroque, Classical and Romantic composers. About the choice of the programme A. "I look at each student as a plant, which needs to be given exactly what will help it grow as much as possible. And because each student is so different, the concert programme is really contrasting and varied." Describing Paley's teaching style, Plonytė added: "Professor Paley is a truly exceptional teacher - to have such a teacher is a great success for us. He works with each of us in a very different way during his lectures to bring out the character and best qualities of each of us, to bring out our individuality. The professor is very sincere with us - we feel very concerned about our success. His absolute dedication to his profession motivates us, inspires us and ignites a great love for music."
