The exhibition presents the work of five artists active in lithography - Roma Auškalnytė, Kalle Berg, Matti Hintikka, Kuutti Lavonen and Kaisu Sirviö. The exhibition also represents Helsinki Litho, a lithography studio based in Helsinki. The studio was founded in 2001 on the initiative of Finnish artists Kuutti Lavonen and Matti Hintikka, who were concerned about the future of lithography, one of the classical printmaking techniques. Eventually, more artists joined the initiators - Kalle Berg, Kaisu Sirviö, Roma Auškalnytė and others. The young Lithuanian printmaker, together with artist Kalle Berg, are regular printers at Helsinki Litho, collaborating with Finnish and international artists to print their prints. The exhibition "Stone Speaks" is united by lithography, with examples of traditional forms and technical possibilities, as well as experimental examples of this printmaking technique that update the lithographic process. The works convey the individual styles of the authors, and, according to the artists, their attempts to speak to the lithographic stone, to create their own stories, textures and forms.
