During the concert, the ensemble will perform the program of the recently recorded decade's compact disc, which presents the most outstanding music masters who led the musical life of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 16th century. at the end of the 17th century in the first half. At that time, famous Italian composers who not only held the highest positions in Rome and the Vatican, but also were direct students of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, the founder of the Roman school of polyphonic music, one of the most influential composers of all time, worked as the court conductors of our rulers the Vasi dynasty. It is a musical journey from Rome to Vilnius - from Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and his students Annibalė Stabilė, Aspril Pacelli and Giovanni Francesco Anerio and other composers of the Vasai court, such as Luca Marenzio and Tarquinio Merula, to Marco Scacchi, the creator of the first opera staged in Vilnius, and the Great Lithuanian Kapellmeister Giovanni Battista Cocciola of the chancellor of the Duchy Leon Sapiega and the unknown author of the "Sapiega Album". The program will be performed by five Lithuanian singers of the ensemble and an international team of instrumentalists - four performers of ancient wind instruments and an organist. It is the historically based combination of voices, cornets and baroque trombones that creates the characteristic sound of the Canto Fiorito ensemble."Canto Fiorito" album "From Rome to Vilnius" will be published and distributed by the international music record company "Brilliant Classics". She will introduce music lovers from all over the world to the little-known facts that some of the most famous Italian composers worked and composed in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, so they are part of our heritage, the music history of Vilnius. Thus, with this music album and concert, not only the ten-year anniversary of the Canto Fiorito ensemble is celebrated, but also the 700th anniversary of Vilnius, its history is immortalized, and the name of Vilnius is celebrated.
Led by Rodrigo Calveira, a famous long flute and cornet player from Brazil, and produced by singer Renata Dubinskaitė, the ensemble started its activities in 2013 (the first year it operated under the name "Suonatori del granduca"). Its mission is to spread the music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque based on the principles of historically based performance and paying special attention to the musical heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In ten years, the "Canto Fiorito" ensemble held 117 concerts. Of these, 22 concerts were held in 14 foreign countries: England, Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany. The ensemble also prepared two semi-stage productions of baroque operas and recorded three CDs. The ensemble also organized seven International Kretinga Early Music Festivals, where they presented concerts of 29 other ensembles and the world's most famous early music performers. Canto Fiorito has organized more than 60 educational events of various formats. Among them: lectures for children and adults, excursions, educational activities in schools of basic education, seminars in music schools (including continuing courses lasting two academic years), master classes for students of music academies, courses for amateur choirs, weekly longitudinal flute lessons for children and wards of orphanages ( one academic year), creative workshops with folklore ensembles, art competitions, baroque dance classes, multimedia lessons, etc. i.e. "Canto Fiorito" is one of only a few Lithuanian institutions that managed to win the competition of the European Union program "Creative Europe" as a leader. Also, the collective won twice in competitions of the European Economic Area Fund and implemented international projects in cooperation with ensembles from other countries. In addition, "Canto Fiorito" has been granted the status of a representative cultural institution of Vilnius City Municipality. All these musical and educational activities were implemented solely from project funds, without permanent funding and without paying salaries to employees.
