The team of actors from different generations of the Vilnius Small Theater, together with the director Gabriele Tuminaita and the writer Paulina Pukyte, present the stage version of the work known to everyone from school - Žemaitė's "Marčios". The creators of the show present a new look at the work covered in stereotypical interpretations and its characters - Katrė, her father, Vingiai Jonas and others. Has the modern world that glorifies women's emancipation and equal opportunities really changed significantly from the one described by Žemaitė? The show reflects the creators' attempts to understand the 19th century. concepts of marriage, family, love and happiness and compare them with modern ones.
In the small theater "Marčia" we will not see an illustration of a village household. However, the environment of the characters created by Vytautas Narbutos - the remains of an abandoned stadium - is imbued with both haunted houses and an atmosphere of inner debauchery. The play is full of stage symbolism and generalizations that create an almost surreal mood. Arriving at Vingiai's house, Katrė falls into a real nightmare of a dream, from which, unfortunately, only death can save her...
