Famous Lithuanian sculptors of different generations - Vladas Urbanavičius, Rimantas Milkintas, Rafal Piesliak and Dainius Trumpis - present different techniques, search for new ways of expression and possibilities of exhibition, and introduce the diversity of possibilities of contemporary sculpture. The work of all the authors covers a wide range of topics: from the socio-cultural and political context of today to universal existential themes and formal aspects related to the problems of constructing the form and volume of the work. Vladas Urbanavičius, a living classic, presents abstract sculptures, (re)testing the limits of the possibilities of size and construction. Rimantas Milkintas conceptual sculptures convey the topicality of society, constant change, tension, anxiety and other emotions. By deforming seemingly unaffected materials to create new meaningful structures, the artist analyses not only technological possibilities, but also the universal problems of society. Rafal Piesliak combines various collected objects, changing their function and giving them a different meaning. The forms created help to re-experience the objects that have emerged from the past and the related contexts of collective memory. The works of Dainius Trumpis are inspired by personal experience and reflections on cultural memory. The artist is interested in both physical and psychological reactions to form and material properties. By combining ready-made and industrial materials, shiny galvanised metal, the artist extracts new metaphysical values.
