On the stage of the Panevėžys Musical Theater - Richard Rodgers' legendary musical for the whole family! Family values are cherished from generation to generation, the melodies are well known to everyone and the love story does not leave anyone indifferent. Based on true events, this timeless tale is based on Maria von Trapp's memoir, The Trapp Story of the Singing Family. The main character of the work, Marija, is determined to become a nun, but her love of music and acquaintance with the large Trapai family make her reflect on her vocation.
Soloist Sandra Lebrikaitė will play the main role in the performance, Georg von Trapp's children will be played by students of Panevėžys Music School and Vytautas Mikalauskas Arts Gymnasium.
In 2018, "Sounds of Music" was revived at the Panevėžys Music Theater on the initiative of director Nerijas Petrokas and conductor Vidmantas Kapučinskas. One of the most important goals of this production is to give the young generation an unforgettable musical experience. N. Petrokas assures that this musical has inspired many young people to choose a path in life: "It has happened that children who participated in the performance then choose the path of a singer or musician, theater. The educational value of this performance is very high." The director adds that the musical is interesting not only for children and young people, parents and grandparents do not spare nice wishes and emotional comments.
